Dodge Viper
Development
The Viper was conceived as a historic decision on the classic American sports car. The iconic AC Cobra was a source of inspiration, and the final version of the Viper is confirmed with its powerful engine, minimalist straightforward design, muscular and aggressive styling and high performance. Some saw claims to kinship with the Cobra as a marketing exercise, ignoring that Carroll Shelby was heavily involved in the initial design of the Viper, and subsequent design of the Viper GTS Coupe. In particular, the (later, from 1996 to 2002) Viper GTS coupe took a few design elements from the Pete Brock designed Shelby Cobra Daytona. Although the proportions seem similar at first glance, the designs are quite unique. Carroll Shelby was instrumental in the development of RT / 10 and having a hand in the development of the GTS.
The Viper was conceived in late 1988 at Chrysler’s Advanced Design Studios. The following February, Chrysler president Bob Lutz suggested to Tom Gale at Chrysler Design that the company should consider producing a modern Cobra, and a clay model was presented to Lutz a few months later. Directed by Metalcrafters sheet, the car appears as a concept at the North American International Auto Show in 1989. Public response was so enthusiastic, that chief engineer Roy Sjoberg was directed to develop it as a production vehicle.
Sjoberg selected 85 engineers to be “Team Viper”, with early development in March 1989. The team asked then-Chrysler subsidiary Lamborghini to build prototype aluminum blocks based on Dodge’s V10 truck for the use of sports cars in May The production organization was completed in the fall, with a chassis prototype running in December. Although the V8 was first used in the test mule, the V10, the car production was destined to use, was ready in February 1990.
Official approval from Chrysler chairman Lee Iacocca came in May 1990. A year later, Carroll Shelby piloted a preproduction car as the pace car in the Indianapolis 500. In November 1991, the car was released to reviewers with first shipments of detail starting in January 1992.

The first prototype was tested in January 1989. He made his debut in 1991 with pre-production models of both, as the leading car for the Indianapolis 500 when Dodge was forced to substitute in place of the Japanese Stealth due to complaints from the United Auto Workers union, and released in January 1992 RT/10 Roadster.
; The centerpiece of the car was its engine. It is based on the Chrysler LA design, which was a truck engine. The factory setting is too heavy for the use of sports cars, so Lamborghini then owned by Chrysler Corporation, revamped Dodge iron block V10 for the Viper by recasting the block and cylinder head in aluminum alloy. Some within Chrysler said the design pushrod two-valve, while sufficient for the purposes truck was not suitable for a performance car and suggested a more comprehensive redesign which would have included four valves per cylinder. Chrysler, however, was uncertain about the costs of producing the Viper and sales potential and so declined to provide budget amendment.
The engine weighs 711 pounds (323 kg) and produces 400 hp (300 kW) at 4600 rpm and 465 lbft (630 Nm) at 3600 rpm, and thanks to the long transmission allowed by the engine, provided that the fuel economy in the United States Environmental Protection Agency-rated 12 mpg-US (20 L/100 km, 14 mpg-imp) city and 20 mpg- U.S. (12 L/100 km, 24 mpg-imp) highway. The body was a tubular steel frame with resin transfer molding (RTM) of fiberglass panels. A few small pieces of the suspension (ends tie rods and parts of front wheel hubs) after “the first engine manufacturer” mantra from the Dodge Dakota. He had an empty weight of 3.284 pounds (1.490 kilograms) and had not all Drivers modern aids such as traction control or ABS. Car and Driver magazine referred to this generation as “the world’s largest Harley Fat Boy,” and compared him to “playing ping-pong with a bat Baseball Louisville Slugger. “Despite this, performance in a straight line, he completed a quarter mile in 12. 6 seconds and a top speed over 180 mph (290 km / h). Its fat tires a allowed the car to average close to 1 g lateral corners, it puts him among the elite cars of its time. However, the car was difficult to drive at high speed, especially for unskilled workers.
The car was spartan, even if it featured an inflatable lumbar support and adjustable seats. With no external door handles, the vehicle had no side windows and roof. Although a soft cover up was available, it was designed primarily to store vehicles inside. side curtain fabric and operated by plastic zippers can be inserted in the door and bolted into the labor case needed. All these decisions have been taken to reduce weight. The battery is sealed in the compartment above the rear wheel and the increased weight from the rear and the traction. The car comes with a hood and video editing on the hood (the hood is removable and folds to fit in the trunk). In 1994, A / C was added as option.Performance

A coupe model called the GTS was introduced in 1996. Nicknamed “double bubble” The roof featured slightly raised sections above each seat to allow the use of helmets, a return to its destination. Vipers can be seen participating often in drag racing, road racing and drifting. GTS Like its predecessor, has been chosen as pace car for the Indianapolis 500 1996.
Despite their similar appearance, the car was distinct enough to be considered a new generation model. [edit] Important changes as a reworked engine with more power and less weight, an almost completely redesigned chassis that was made 60 lbs (27 kg) lighter and stiffer than 25% in torsional rigidity through a careful analysis computer, a suspension completely redesigned and reduced braking distances; from 1996 to 2002 Viper GTS had a lighter (about 650 lb (290 kg)) 450 hp (340 kW) engine, which could complete the quarter mile in 12. 3 seconds , 0. 3 seconds and 16 mph (26 km / h) faster than its predecessor, and has increased the speed limit by 11 mph (18 km / h) or more. The revised suspension, stiffer chassis and aerodynamic body raised lateral grip than 0. 98 g (9. 6 m / s), although other reports show that the model 1992 with 1. 0 g. modern tires have improved this measure significantly. slalom can often achieve or exceed 70 mph (110 km / h). Brakes once again failed to start, and proved to be the weak point of the car. The bad brakes the car in numerous comparison tests, such as a 1997 ” Comparison supercar “by Motor Trend in which the Viper GTS placed on top against cars like the Ferrari 550, Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911, Honda NSX and performance in all exercises except braking. The car not only placed last, but had significantly longer stopping distances than other vehicles. ABS was introduced in production, although braking performance was not necessarily improved significantly. In a Sports Car International comparison conducted in 2002, the Viper ACR (ABS) was compared to the 911 GT2 at Thunderhill Raceway Park. Both cars were very capable and fast around the test track, but the Viper was more difficult to drive and the braking system has been criticized precisely the difference in lap times (about GT2: 2 minutes, CAB: 2:04) between the two cars.
With the performance upgrade is ripe for the inclusion of some luxuries “the car is unprecedented. have dual front airbags was added to the list of vehicle safety equipment in 1996 on the GTS and RT/10 1997 as mandated by the government. The car was also exported to Europe, where it was rebadged as a Chrysler, and sold under this mark from 1997 to 2003. The European models have a detuned version of the V10 Viper.
During the first six years of production almost 10,000 Vipers were sold. Minor amendments to the evolution including new wheels 18 “diameter tires have been introduced in the 1999 model. hypereutectic pistons later featured light and an improved exhaust system, exhaust side having been abandoned some way to 1996 production year the RT/10, and all production Viper GTS Coupe had rear exit exhaust. 1999 saw the introduction of the Cognac Connolly Leather interior packaging. Further refinement, the ABS was introduced in 2001. In 2002, the end of production of the second generation was celebrated with the release of 360 commemorative “Final Edition” models. These models were painted red with white stripes, paying tribute to the famous race winning cars Oreca. The RT/10 was replaced by SRT-10 GTS in 2003 and was replaced in 2005 by the SRT-10 Coupe.

The Dodge Viper underwent a major overhaul in 2003, courtesy of the street DaimlerChrysler and Racing Technology Group. The new Viper SRT-10, which replaced both the GTS and the RT/10 was heavily restyled with sharp, angled bodywork. displacement of the engine was enlarged to 505 cu in (8. 3 L), with other improvements, combined with increased output to 500 hp (370 kW) and 525 lbft (712 Nm). With the power increases, the weight was reduced in the 500 pounds (230 kg) range. The chassis has also been improved. It became more rigid and weighs about 80 lbs (36 kg) lighter than its predecessor. A chassis even lighter and stronger than was expected, but was abandoned because of cost (under suspension parts were used in the Hennessey Viper Venom 1000 Twin Turbo.) The original model was a convertible. In 2004, Dodge introduced a limited edition Mamba package. Mamba edition cars featured black interior with red stitching and trim and saw their MSRP price of about U.S. $ 3,000. 200 Mambas were produced.
Cup Viper SRT-10 was unveiled at the Detroit Auto 2005 as a 2006 model. It shares many of its body panels with the convertible takes, but the side and rear of the style of the Cup competition. The coupe is much like the previous Viper GTS and retains the “double bubble” roof shape of the original tail lights with the original GTS, while providing GTS home with blue stripes white paint scheme on the original track cars First published as a tribute was added to the original Viper Coupe. The engine is certified to produce 510 hp SAE (380 kW) and 535 lbft (725 Nm). Unlike the Cup home, the chassis has not been changed. This makes heavier than the coupé cabriolet, and therefore a bit slower to accelerate. Handling and high speed are enhanced by more rigid chassis coupe, reduced drag, and increased support.
No 2007 model Vipers were produced. Instead, Chrysler chose to give the 2006 model, extended battery life while preparing the 2008 update of modèle.Performance

In 2008, with the UC 510 (8. 4 L) V10 produces 600 hp Viper (450 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 560 lbft (760 Nm) at 5100 rpm and has also received a better flowing heads with larger valves, cam Mechadyne-IN-CAM VVT on the exhaust cam lobes, and dual electronic throttle bodies. The rev limit has been increased by 300 rpm due to the improved stability of distribution members both new camshaft profiles and valve springs. The engine development has been done with outside help from McLaren Automotive and Ricardo Consulting Engineers. electronic control of engine was developed by Continental AG, the controller is able to monitor the crankshaft and cylinder position up to six times during each firing and 10 times more processing power compared to the previous unit.
changes outside the engine are less extreme. Tremec T56 transmission has been replaced by a new Tremec TR6060 which now synchromesh gear triple and double for the higher gears. The rear axle Dana M44-4 model 2003-2006 has now GKN ViscoLok speed sensing limited slip differential that helps greatly to get the tires grip under acceleration. Another performance upgrade was the elimination of run-flat tires, the new Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires have increased driver feedback and adherence and with the revised suspension (springs, roll bars, and valves shock), the Viper has a more neutral cornering.
The changes made to the car 2008 model year were enough for Chrysler to make it distinct from the first SRT-10, and Model 2008 became known as Gen IV, [edit] just in time for the last Chevrolet 638 HP (476 kW) Corvette ZR1. Another notable change is the overhaul of crossover exhaust system, before third generation Vipers had their exhaust ducts under the seats which resulted in a large amount of heat entering the cockpit, it was first made to help improve the cars exhaust note, since the first 2 generations of Viper, which had no connection, have been criticized for their lackluster exhaust notes. For 2008, the Viper exhaust will utilize a new exhaust system without a filter, which reduces the heat entering the cabin.
The electrical system has been completely revised for 2008. Changes include an alternator 180 amps, Two electric fans, electronic throttles, and completely new engine management system VENOM. CAN bus architecture has been closely with legacy systems to enable regulatory compliance. The fuel system has been upgraded to include a more powerful pump and fuel system filtration.Car
and Driver recently tested the car and got one mph 00-60 (97 km / h) time 3. 5 seconds, 0-100 mph (160 km / h) time of 7. 6 seconds and quarter-mile time of 11 years. 5 seconds at 126 mph (203 km / h). Dodge claims top speed is 197 mph (317 km / h) and 202 mph (325 km / h) for the Roadster and Coupe respectively. Car and Driver also tested to monitor the performance of the viper, and run under 3 minutes fast lap around Virginia International Raceway. Time of the Viper, despite the hot weather, was faster than the Corvette Z06, Ford GT, Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 GT3, Audi R8, and other such cars. According to Car and Driver and Motor Trend, the configuration of the car slightly adjusted suspension and differential gave new turn as sharp as before with even better control, evaluation and intervention.
November 4, 2009, Dodge Brand Car President and CEO, Ralph Gilles, has announced that the Viper would end production in summer 2010. A new car will arrive in 2012 to replace the current Viper, but it is unclear whether the new car will be named Viper.
On February 10, 2010, Dodge has begun accepting orders for the Viper SRT10 “Final Edition” models. Only 32 of these units will be produced. “Final Edition” cars will carry the code “Special Build, AXZ”, and was the last car of the fourth generation Viper. “Final Edition” will be available in Viper SRT10 coupe and convertible configurations. The price of this special offering limited production has not been released.

70,000 strong crowd at the National Stadium in Dhaka have been holding their breath excitement among many. With the game locked at 1-1 at the bottom of the second half, Bangladesh has a free kick just outside the opposition (Indonesia) box. After conceding a goal early in the game, a dubious penalty, Bangladesh has just equalized through a header of a comeback full Kaiser Hamid, playing only his second match for the country. But this free-kick provided an excellent opportunity to take the lead. The veteran Ashrafuddin Chunnu, the hero of the Abahana fans, intervened to take the kick. P> Three years earlier, during the WC Spain we saw a lot of brilliant free kicks. The Italy Bruno Conti, who used to bend the ball into the penalty box for Rossi and the other to take the breast, while the trio Brazilian Zico, Eder and junior preferred the most direct route, going straight to the point . Their techniques were different, however. Eder raw absolute power, no beach was too far for him. Zico preferred chip, while Junior, left full back to curl the ball like the round wall. Here in Dhaka, Chunnu tried the approach Junior, and his banana shot completely deceived goalkeeper Indonesia. Standing behind the wall, he saw the ball too late to react. Chunnu goal was enough to secure a first victory to qualify for WC. And we followed that victory with a comfortable 1-0 victory over Thailand. And even though we lost our last match against India in Calcutta (2-1 after taking the head), our overall performance for our first qualifying campaign was not bad at all. Later in 1985, Abahana brilliantly in the qualifying round in Colombo for the Asian Club Championship, and only an unlucky 1-0 defeat at the hands of the giant East Bengal in Calcutta has denied them a birth in the main event. In 1988, Muslims were even better, not only did they beat Iranian side of a qualifying round, they caused an upheaval in the main event by beating the champions of North Korea. While both Abahana and Muslims had a number of foreign recruits, but teams are not completely dependent on them. In fact, the contributions of our local players, like Ashish, Aslam and Shabbir were not negligible. Based on these performances, and with the result of the huge stake here, our football was supposed to make steady progress. If our football had matched progress in cricket, we could not have played in the main bathroom, but we came close to it. We could not have given Park Ji Sung, but we could have players playing in the Championship of England, or in the Serie B in Italy. Instead, now, in 2010, we rank near the bottom of the list of FIFA. While we are happy to cheer for Messi and Kaka, our football is in a clean abyss. Since long, our own submission to SA in 2010, had ended there, with a 1-6 reverse two legs in the hands of Tajikistan (a 1-1 draw in Dhaka was followed by 5-0 strokes of the cane in Asia Central). Over the past two decades, our cricket has made steady progress upward. In contrast, our standards of football have steadily declined. Here, I would try to understand the main reasons for these failures. And I would often parallels between the events in our cricket and football arenas to find the gaps in our football authorities. P> There is a theory (and I firmly believe in this theory not long ago), that football was dead in Bangladesh. With Bangladesh play cricket at the highest level the most public attention has been shifted to cricket. According to this theory of football is becoming a minority sport. However, my views have changed in recent months. First, I saw huge crowds gather to watch the Bangabandhu Stadium PSES and SA football. The standard of football was not brilliant, but seemed to matter little for the huge crowd. And, of course, the city of Dhaka has been filled with the flags of Argentina and Brazil, well ahead of Shakira “Waka Waka”. Not that the enthusiasm was confined to the capital alone. My professional duties take me to Gazipur twice a week. And there I saw even greater euphoria. I even saw huge flags of Japan and South Korea. So there is no shortage of gambling in our country. The problem is, apart from passion, there is little else to say. P> Of course, the passion itself can create problems. Passionate love can lead people to do things unethical. Bible (The Book of Samuel) tells the story of how David has cheated on her rival for his beloved. For football in Bangladesh, the passion has often taken the form of violence and destruction. It has been particularly true in the 70s and early 80s. Most of the matches between the rivals Abahana and Muslims almost inevitably lead to mob violence. A number of people died in the violence, but very little has been done. Unfortunately, in many cases, players and officials of both clubs have played the leading role in inciting the fight. There were rules to punish such acts, but our authority in soccer has been very reluctant to use such measures, especially against the two giants. P> But for me the biggest failure of our football governing body lies in their inability to establish a good school championship. Back in the early 80s, the Football Championship organized pioneering for some years. Nearly 100 teams participated in the tournament for a place in the 3rd Division League Dhaka. The idea was to encourage the development of young football talent. But there were two problems. The Federation does not spread this idea of any part of the country. He has been confined to the capital and its suburbs. Second, as the law and order in the country seems to get worse in the 80s some of the clubs began to build a bad reputation. Instead of encouraging cultural activities and sports, these clubs became hubs for anti-social elements. In this situation, many parents were against their children having a relationship with these clubs, and, possibly, the pioneering company failed to achieve its objectives. A much better way to find young talent was to form a national school competition. With many schools having their own playground, the organization was quite simple. He was in the early 80s, the authorities began the cricket tournament inter school cricket is still going strong. P> One reason could BCCB move forward so successfully with their school cricket program is the fact that they had a sponsor high-level “Nirman. Later in the 80s, came forward to sponsor Beximco Cup Asian youth. At a time when the corporate culture in the country was very rudimentary stage, why the big companies in the country gave their support to the cricket rather than football? The reason for this was the “status”. In the sub-continent, the royal game always enjoyed much higher status than other sports. In the British Raj, the princely states played a prominent role in the game of condescension. In Bangladesh, most of the top cricketers came from highly educated and established family. BCCB should get credit for spreading the game to all sectors of society without prejudice to the situation of state. In direct contrast, the football authorities never seemed to care too much about the state of the game. They were too busy with the conflicts within the organization. That television has become the biggest media, many sports are not just ‘sports’, they have become “entertainment”. A player these days should have a little charisma beyond his reading skills. Not that all of our players lack in this regard. I remember in the early 1980s, Tutul, the Abahana and the national team back, has played a central role in a drama BTV. The story revolves around a young footballer who gradually made its way up to see his career end abruptly due to injury. Tutul received high accolade for his efforts. But there was no concerted effort by authorities to improve the reputation of the game with the help of electronic media. One of the interesting features of our football is that there is no schedule
e for different competitions. For the past 30 years, I saw the start of the English season in early August and mid and finish in mid / late May There were changes, such as the number of top flight teams reduced to 20 22 to reduce the number of games, or the introduction of a penalty shootout (if needed) in the FA Cup. But whatever changes occur, there are thought processes behind it. In changing the Bangladesh Football occur almost arbitrary power. Sometimes, these authorities have nothing to do with football. The Aga Khan Gold Cup, a club competition in a major international success has been arrested after 1981 (Local Union side Brothers shared the title in the definitive edition with the club in Bangkok bank in Thailand, becoming the only local team to raise the trophy after independence. Both Muslims and Victoria won the Cup before our independence). It has been replaced by the Presidents Cup. Tournament organizers further said that the new competition will feature national teams from the region. Soon it was clear that the participating teams have been sending their youth team, or some club teams. Not surprisingly, the idea of the Presidents Cup has been a fairly quick end. In August 1990, organized the BFF ‘Cup Moni MO, in May 1991, they organized a tournament of six teams (Abahana, Muslim, and the brethren of the Union of Dhaka, Mohan Bagan and East Bengal Muslim Calcutta). Both tournaments were philanthropic idea behind them. The first was organized to encourage immunization of children, the 2nd to raise funds for cyclone victims. The tournaments have been a great success in that huge crowd gathered to watch the games, but if these games used any serious purpose football wise is very questionable. P> In the development of our cricket, foreign players, especially the SL, has played a major role. Although the influx of foreign footballers in Dhaka has started much earlier, except for a brief period in the 80s, there was no significant contribution by foreign recruits. Back in the late 70s, a number of Indians, Pakistanis and SL players come to Dhaka. But in most cases, they were only there to play the big games. A notable exception was Pakir Ali Lankan central defender, who joined after Abahana in 1981, went on to play with great distinction for a number of years. But the most positive influence by foreign recruits came during 1987 season. The Mohammedans brought three Iranians. Of the three, Golam Reza Naljegar, short mid-fielder, was one of the best in Asia. For Muslims, he played the role of playmaker There was also Hejaji Naser, a goalkeeper who played for Iran’s toilet in 1978. Apart from the obligation to maintain, it also does a good job of coaching for the white and black. No less impressive were the recruits Abahana, Shamir Shaker, central defender, and Karim Alavi, forward, both in Iraq. Later in the decade, we have seen quality players from Central Asia to come to Dhaka League. They too, were quite impressive. But the problems began with the arrival of African players in the 90s. Many of these players do not have the football skills. However, they were chosen only because they enjoyed great physical benefits on local players. Sometimes, even the referees felt a bit intimidated. Too much use of physical force, and their often unruly behavior that created problems for our football. P> Last but not least is the factor of engagement, commitment, in the case of our cricket authorities, the lack of it for our football hierarchy. As in other sectors in Bangladesh, there were internal conflicts over minor issues, controversies, mismanagement of fact, the external influence in our Cricket Board. But despite these problems, cricket made steady progress in the right direction, because above and in these problems, there was a general commitment to the game of our civil servants. There was no such clear commitment to our football authority. P> Looks Ahead: Recently, Kazi Salahuddin, one of our greatest all time has taken the No. 1 spot in our hierarchy of football. Although, like everyone else, it does not exceed the controversy, much as I feel he is the man best suited to restore the image of the game in the country. His knowledge of the game is undeniable, and he has the right kind of attitude. Of course, everything has gone according to plan. In particular, the departure of a foreign coach in acrimonious circumstances quite a few raised eyebrows, both home and abroad. On the positive side, it seems that, finally, the great authors of the country are turning the head to football. One can only hope that this money is used properly to distribute the game across the country and build a good structure for our football. Things do not change in a day or two and not one man can change everything. What we expect that under the leadership of Salahuddin, and with financial support from major sponsors, our football will be back on track. After some promising moments in the 80 very little has been done in the field of football. The last two decades have been wasted badly. Although we confine ourselves to support Brazil or Argentina, we hope our children (or perhaps our grandchildren) can clap for our boys playing in the toilet. This may seem like a dream, but then everything starts with a dream. P>
